Breast cancer certainly a fatal and a deadly disease. However, as medical science and technology grow, we now know that cancer is curable. With timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment, patients can lead a normal life.

There are two main goals of breast cancer treatment

1)    To cure cancer as early as possible.
2)    To prevent cancer from reoccurring.

The following needs to be noted –

Know Your Breasts. Breast cancer is one of the major causes of cancer death in young women from 15 to 34. Follow your doctors advice on performing breast self-exams and make an appointment right away if you find something fishy.

Be Persistent. If you find “something,” and your family neglects your concerns saying that you are “too young for breast cancer,” do not believe them and take necessary steps to see a doctor. Breast cancer can develop at very young age, as well.

Doctor Shop. Don’t just accept the opinion of the first doctor you see. You may have time see different doctors and to decide on the one you feel more comfortable with. Do not take too long to decide, but make sure your decision is based on through research and expert advice.

Research Your Options. Learn about things like the stage and grade of your cancer to help you determine your treatment options. If you are not comfortable asking your doctors, get online to find info on the same.

Network with Other Young Women. Talk to as many women as possible who have undergone breast cancer treatment. This will help you understand the whole process and will also answer many of your questions.
